Surrounding

Well, I admit, surrounding is a bit of unterstatement. Some pictures are taken close to a daytrip away of S.F. But I did not want to call the gallery 'the rest' or similar.

The pictures come from two trips. On one hand the journey from Death Valley to San Francisco 1996 and on the other hand the drive from San Francisco on Route No. 1 to the north in 2002.

1. Red
Taken in 2002 approx. 250 miles north of San Francisco. I will remember it because we got an enormous watermelon for free donated by the owner the shop

2. Lake Tahoe
One of the most beautiful seas in America, at the border of California and Nevada

3. Sausalito
In the north of San Francisco, just behind Golden Gate Bridge. Dozen of floating houses - extremely photogenic. No place to live for me, I admit...

4. Meadow
100 miles north of San Francisco. Our first stop of the day

5. Cheeks
I think this small chap wont be hungry in the foreseeable future

6. Bird
Bodega Bay. Ring a bell? No? Hitchcock did a little picture with a few birds there half a century ago

7./8. Mendocino
A small town at the west coast where dozens of Hollywood productions have been made, among them a James Dean picture and "Forever Young" with Mel Gibson. And the beautiful flowergardens are particularly remarkable - even without Hollywood

9. Lake Mead
Between Death Valley and Tioga Pass
