Golden Gate Park
Whoever is in San Francisco - even just for one day - and doesn't visit Golden Gate Park, is really missing one of the most beautiful places. The Park belongs on your schedule like Central Park does in New York. And take your time!
Ten meters away from the road and you're forgetting that you are in a huge city. Thousands of animals walk, swim or fly around in the area (ducks, swans, squirrel, pelicans). The japanese garden is a masterpiece and if you have sufficient time, you should treat yourself with one of the differents museums. There are roads for jogging, walking or biking, rivers for boat tours, and places to just stay and relax.
I can only recommend it, San Francisco is more than Golden Gate and big houses.
