It is really unbelievable. There I am, living in Stuttgart for many years, loving animals and nature and have not visited the Stuttgart Wilhelma (one of the finest zoos and botanic gardens in Germany) for two decades.
But on March 30th, 2004 this was changed. The Wilhelma was the right place to check out my brand new Nikon D70. All images in the galleries Wilhelma 1 and Wilhelma 2 were taken on this gorgeous spring day.
1.-3. Orchids
For me always the most beautiful plants. Noble and colorful. I was lucky - when photographing
a worker watered the flowers and therefore the glass otherwise protecting the flowers did not
distract me (or my lens)
4. Splendour
A masterpiece of nature
5. Landing
The butterfly was in final approach. The butterfly house belongs to the most beautiful and
peaceful places in the Wilhelma
6. Work to do
One of my favourite pictures of the day
7. Peace
The eagle lets itself be disturbed by nothing - not by shouting children, not by other animals.
The animal remains sitting there in its majestic way and keeps staring into the distance
8.-9. Splendour (2/3)
A further example of delightful color play. The blue parrot is called Hyazinthara
10. Funny
The hairstyle is really remarkable
