Las Vegas

Just for crazy people? Or for gambling-addicted? But sure. As long as there is Las Vegas I love to be crazy, foolish or addicted. The city has pulled me into its spell (or whatever you want to call it) immediatly.

A night-walk on the Strip belongs to the most incredible things you can experience in the american west. Grab your camera, get going and be overwhelmed. That's the best you can do to grasp the concept of Las Vegas.

I probably could have wasted :-) half a dozen films in the two and a half days we spent in Las Vegas (and I will some day). But Thank God I could control myself.

A final remark: I spent one day in Reno in 2002 - six years later. But to call Reno the little sister of Las Vegas, is somewhat daring. If you have to (are allowed to) decide: Vegas, Vegas, Vegas!

1. Playground
No, this is not a water park, for which entrance must be paid. This is the 'pool' in our hotel Monte Carlo

2. New York
Not yet completely finished in 1996, but we could already recognize the concept. Fortunately they didn't put the WTC in it

3. Treasure
Impression of the sea-battle, which is fought every half hour in front of the Treasure Island hotel

4. New York (II)
This time from another perspective and some hours later

5. Luxor
The pyramid, one of the 'landmarks' of Vegas

6. Mirage
Another main attraction. Don't miss the volcanic eruption in front of Siegfried and Roys home, the Mirage

7. Bally
Impresses with its fluorescent tubes - and with tasteful and tasteless color combinations :-)

8. Cesars Palace
This goes a bit over the top, doesn't it? What is this? The residence of every gay gambler in Vegas? Who the hell invented these colours??? Anyway, in the casino I saw a gambler losing 20,000 dollar at Black Jack within 10 minutes. That in itsself is something. Above all, the man throws in his last 5,000 dollar chip as tip. Can you believe that?

9. Monte Carlo
Our rather modest accommodation - the Monte Carlo

10. Excalibur
Hard competition for the Cesars Palace. Aren't the little towers sweet?

11. Vulkan
Another picture at the Mirage. Here the water starts to burn - quite impresive

12./13. MGM
Entrance hall and casino inside the MGM, the largest hotel in Las Vegas 1996
