Cities near the ocean do have something special. At least for me. That goes for New York, for Boston, for San Francisco of course. And Seattle. Whoever hikes the northwest, please do not miss Seattle.
What can/should you do in Seattle: basicly its the same principle as it is in San Francisco. Walk, walk, walk. And keep your eyes open. There is a free bus service in the city, but walking is just a lot of fun (and it's good for your health).
The waterfront with the Pike Street Market (flowers, stuff and fish, fish, fish), is very beautiful and recommendable. And there is an aquarium in the area.
Naturally you shouldn't miss the Seattle center with the space needle. On a beautiful day you will have a gorgeous view on the city and the environment and possibly an Mt. Rainier - 60 miles away. The sunset from the top (if you get one) is overwhelming.
1. Greetings
A beautiful sign in front of a rather average tourist shop
2. Building site
Watching skycrapers being built is always fascinating
3. Lantern
On this day lanterns before skyscrapers obviously were my favorite photo object
4. Stile
Somehow the house didn't fit in the neighborhood - and was even more delightful for
that reason
5. Contrast
A nice combination
6. Needle
In Stuttgart, Germany we have the TV tower. That isn't bad, but I would trade it for
the Space Needle immediately (particular for the view)
7. Scraper
The buildings are quite impressive
8. Art
Beautiful colour combination
9. Lantern (II)
As above
10. Dawn
Taken directly after sunset. In the foreground the rails of the Monorail, which connect
the Seattle center with the city center
11. View
Beautiful. The time of dawn and sunset on the Space Needle. In the background Mt.
Rainier
12. Fountain
Shot in the early morning light - just before leaving for Idaho
