Salt Lake City

Hmm. Salt Lake City. What shall I say? Maybe at first that we had just one day to look around. Next maybe, that it was a saturday afternoon. And maybe, that it was kind of nice.

But altogether the impression remains, that the only really interesting place of Salt Lake City is the enormous temple in the center of town, with flower gardens, many buildings and dozens of weddings at the same time. But since I am no mormon (and have no intention of becoming one), the whole place didn't knock me out of my shoes.

Possibly you need a little more time to get to know SLC. But I'll probably never know. I'd rather stay a few days longer in San Francisco.

Oh, two more things: SLC has the nicest Starbucks Coffeeshop, which I've ever seen and the capitol (quite similar to the one in Washington) is ok to visit.

1. Temple in the window
From the visitor center outward

2. Symmetry
The rectangular arrangement interested me somehow. Now you'd just have to change the background a bit :-)

3. 10 commandments
Temple in the background - commandments in the foreground

4. Small terrace
Found in a residential area in a small garden - a bit like the Simter terrace in Yellowstone

5/6.Capitol
A copy of the capitol in Washington, a bit smaller but worthwhile to visit - on a hill overlooking the city. Quite nice

7. Mormon art
Taken in one of the buildings - equipped with... lets say: art

8. Center
When the old conference center became too small for the mormons, they simply built a new one on the other side of the street - very impressive and capable of hosting 21.000 people - not bad

9/10. Temple
