In many places Paris is a city of contrasts. Old against new, old combined with new, like Centre Pompidou or Les Halles, characterizes the town. But nowhere the combination of old and new elements has worked as flawless as at Louvre, where the castlelike buildings have been decorated with modern glass-pyramids. Now it's not just Mona Lisa the tourists are visiting the Louvre for.
Unfortunately at this time (May 2004) not everything is working as it should be. At night the pyramids are no longer clouded in bright white lights and the fountains are broken. Seems to me that Paris has got what many cities have: no more money.
